Finial Post

Over the past eight weeks or so we have been blogging based on lectures from IST 195 and how to make our business idea come to life with different aspects of technology.

The company that I started for this project was BrainBuckets. This is a ski and snowboard helmet making company that makes cool helmets for that teenagers will actually want to wear instead of being like a lot of people and thinking that helmets ruin there look so they won't actually wear them.

This projects was a great way to connect what we learned in class to the real world. It really made me go back and think about what we talked about in the lectures and try and apply that to the business i was creating. I really enjoyed doing this project and would definitely recommend having it in future semester as a project for IST195.

The Blogs that i posted on from other students in IST195 are

Networking

BrainBuckets being a web based business where we del ski helmets online as well as at mountains will be greatly impacted by how we are presented online. During IST 195 we learned a lot of different things that would be very helpful.

Domain names is something i didn't know as much about that I should of if i am trying to start a online business. If you want to be successful online as a business it is actually important to purchase all the domain names that look like your business. If someone purchases the domain name that is one letter off from your name or sounds like that how it should be spelled and makes a bad name from your company on there it could ruin you. It was a very good thing to find out and I'm very glad I was informed about it.

Digital Color!

This week in IST professor Rubin taught us about digital colors and how to use them in different technology fields. Brain Buckets being a company that will a be highly web based company understanding Hexadecimal colors is very important. Hexadecimal colors are what web designers use when developing websites to determine what color things are.

BrainBuckets will also need to understand other color models for different things we need to do. For example we will have pro athletes wearing our products and taking pictures of them. When you are trying to upload a picture to a website the picture needs to be saved in RGB (Red,Green,Blue) format. On the other hand if you are trying to print out ads to put at mountains or send into magazines for advertising they need to be in CMYK ( cyan, Magenta, yellow, black) format.  These are things i didn't know before this class but is very good so i don't make that mistake when trying design my website or advertise and get BrainBuckets out on the market.

Blogger Blog

This week I decided to look into how other companies in the sport equipment industry were doing on different blogging websites trying to get a feel for how brain buckets would actually do if it were made into a real company.

Going through many different blogs reading and watching different things i really liked the layout of "Epic Sports" blog. They are a down to earth blog talking about most major sports and different companies along with new technologies that are making each sport progress each year. It is highly geared towards the teenage consumer as well which would be perfect for this company because  teenage skiers and snowboarders are are target market.

If BrainBuckets were on here i think they would get excellent exposure from many of the fans who read this blog and probably get people to check out BrainBuckets online to see what it is all about and possibly buy one or just spread the word about the new cool helmet everyone will be wearing.

Blogging especially in skiing is a very popular thing and could really help BrainBuckets in the future.

Input and Output lecture

This week in IST we learned about a few different things that i feel could help brian buckets become a more successful company from a technology standpoint. The one that stands out the most to me from the lecture though is RFID technology. RFID is radio frequency identification system that lets you track the little chip around certain areas.

Brain Buckets could use this in our helmets for back country skiers. When you're akin the back country at some mountains there is always some chance of an avalanche and you getting stuck under piles of snow. If we put an RFID chip that are  as small as stickers into the helmet, when people got lost the safety patrols on the mountains could know right where they are and get to them before it is to late.

Adding this feature to our helmets would make a lot of back country skiers and definitely ski patrol people want to have our helmets on to feel more protected while there doing what they love to do, ski.
